Cantor Dust is an avant-prog duo from Winnipeg, MB,
creating dynamic songs for piano, synths, electric cello,
and voice. Their new release, Too Many Stars, is an intense
concept album exploring the emptiness that surrounds us as
we float through space in search of light.
Too Many Stars takes place in outer space, the perfect
place for an honest exploration of the uncertainties, fears,
and hopes one encounters while launching into the unknown.
It features dramatic vocals, driving synths, and lush string
arrangements orbiting an array of atmospheres and styles.
The first single, “Too Many Stars”, is accompanied by video
directed by Tyler Funk and shot in black and white to echo
the album theme of finding light in the vast darkness of space.

Cantor Dust began in 2000 as an outlet for Mark Klassen’s
solo synth works. Over the course of 13 albums, his song-
writing style has reflected growth in orchestration, magnitude,
fantasy, and narrative intrigue. Most recently, the 2016
release I Can’t Find My Cape reached #2 on the CKUW
album chart.
The 2020 iteration of Cantor Dust finds Mark collaborating
with multi-genre cellist Natanielle Felicitas (Civvie, Raine
Hamilton Trio, JP Hoe). Together they bring the album to
life in a charistmatic live show, leaving audiences captivated.
